A Commitment - From Dr. Butler

I am a commitment to our Collective Smile. Oddly worded (I know), However, this phrasing emphasizes the active nature of purpose. Our collective SMILE, is the essence of my presence, the WHY of my existence.

Through liberated listening, curating healing experiences, facilitation, teaching and sacred storytelling, I have grown in my understanding of the power of collective Joy, Healing, Justice and Wellbeing. This is how I work.

Officially:

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor - Qualified Supervisor (LMHC-QS) and a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator (CDWF) practicing in St. Petersburg, Fl. Rooted in womanist and liberation frameworks, I am called, centered and committed to our collective healing, liberation and well-being. I am a sought out speaker, facilitator, organizer, educator and curator of healing experiences.

Leveraging my degreed learning in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Counselor Education and Supervision, and extensive training in trauma interventions, appreciative inquiry, reflective supervision, restorative justice, and spiritual, cultural and communal healing strategies; I envision a community liberated and living well.

I believe that rest is our birthright, and joy is our divine assignment. As a Florida Girl, I love BOATS and SUNSHINE! I enjoy spending time in rest, play and adventure with a close-knit group of friends and my 5 beautiful and brilliant children (Imari, Kira, Mason, Oren, Quinci) . I am also the proud grandmother (Mimi) of Amari.

Really:

I am a Connector. I create (co-create) opportunities for people to gather, share, and experience well-being (joy). I believe that we are storied and soulful beings, with knowing embedded within our bodies, yearning for productive release. I believe that we heal in and through community. It matters that we are seen, affirmed, valued and supported. It matters that we make meaningful contributions, especially in our darkest moments as a redemptive healing strategy. I recognize and affirm stillness, forgiveness and righteous anger as contribution to our collective healing.

I practice restorative joy. I aim to RISE everyday, doing and being something that fuels just liberation and living well. My motto is “Do the work, to do the work!” I absolutely love collaborating and co-creating opportunities with folx to gather, create, heal and experience joy (especially when art is involved).
